ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will present to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday (today) the report of an inquiry commission on a Dawn story about a security meeting.

A spokesman for the interior ministry confirmed that the minister had received the report on Tuesday evening and would submit it to the prime minister on Wednesday. The findings of the commission would be made public after the prime minister’s approval, he said.

Chaudhry Nisar recently told reporters that a consensus had been reached on the report among members of the inquiry commission. He said a lack of consensus had led to the delay in finalisation of the report, adding that the commission’s chairman had set a condition before his appointment that he would not sign the report till a consensus on it.

The seven-member commission headed by retired Justice Aamer Raza Khan was constituted by the interior ministry in November last year to ascertain the source who leaked information about a high-level security meeting between top military and civilian officials.

Other members of the commission included Establishment Secretary Tahir Shahbaz, Punjab Ombudsman Najam Saeed, Federal Investigation Agency Punjab Director Dr Usman Anwar and one representative each from the Inter-Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau.
