BADIN: MPA Ismail Rahu, who had recently been replaced with Babu Jatoi as the Sindh president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Mr Rahu hosted a reception for a group of his associates and a number of supporters in Shaheed Fazil Rahu (formerly Golarchi) town late on Monday evening to seek their advice on whether he should join the PPP. He told them that the PML-N had totally neglected him, as well as his constituency on the question of a development package. The party had never paid attention to the constituency since 1995, he observed.

He told the gathering that he wanted to give a positive response to PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s offer to join his party.

The guests endorsed Mr Rahu’s decision and pledged their continued support in future.

Mr Rahu has served as minister in Jam Sadiq Ali’s and Liaquat Ali Jatoi’s cabinets. He was incarcerated for two years after the PML-N government was toppled by General Pervez Musharraf in October 1999.
