HYDERABAD: Speakers at a conference advised electricians to strictly follow all safety measures before starting work on electrical wiring and poles and avoid unnecessary risks to life.
They were speaking at the moot titled ‘Safety day conference’ organised by the All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union at the labour hall on Monday.
The event was aimed at spreading awareness about safety rules and regulations and helping save electricians of all power distribution companies from fatal incidents and injuries during work.
“Skilled workers are the backbone of our institution but their number is decreasing day by day. Protection to workers is our top priority,” said Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) chief executive officer Asadullah.
The union president Abdul Latif Nizamani said that fortunately there had been no fatal incident throughout the year except for some cases of serious injuries which, too, would not have taken place if the line staff had strictly abided by all the rules and regulations of the institution.
Hesco officers and unionists also spoke at the conference.
