KARACHI, July 30: Sports ties between Pakistan and India can restore next week as bridge teams from both countries are expected to meet in the 12th Bfame Bridge Championship to be held in Amman, Jordan.

Last encounter of both sides was at 11th Bfame Championship in Bahrain in 2000.

Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Jordan, Syria and Palestine are expected to form the field of 12th edition of the Bfame.

The six countries to contest the ladies championship would be Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Palestine and Syria.

The first two teams will represent Zone-4 in the Barmuda Bowl schedule to begin at Monte Carlo, France in November next.

Pakistan has fielded three teams in the championship, which will leave for Amman on Thursdayg.

Pakistan open team comprises Jan-e-Alam Fazl-A. Rehman Allana, Sultan Siddiqui-Rashid Jaffer and a Ladies team comprises Qudsia Dossa, Rubina Agha, Roshan Bokhari, Zeenat Azwer, Rehana Saigol and Samia Rashid.

Pervez Mirza will be the non-playing captain and coach who has trained these players about modern techniques.

A senior team comprising Rashidul Ghazi, Yousuf Talpur, Abdul Khaliq, Hasan Jawad and Tariq Rasheed Khan is also heading to compete in the senior’s section.

They have great hopes and have done extremely well in warm-up tournaments in Karachi.—PPI
