ONE black spot under the interior ministry’s control which needs urgent attention is the National Police Foundation’s (NPF) housing department. If one visits the NPF E-11/3 and 4 sectors, one will see inefficiency, incompetence and neglect.

Roads are broken, streetlights are either non-existent, missing or out of order. The overhead electricity wirings which were supposed to be converted into underground wiring years ago, according to the original plan, are still overhead and in a bad shape.

The result is frequent breakdowns which increase the duration of the normal loadshedding. Incidentally, all private housing societies other than the NPF in E/11 sector such as multi-professional housing have already completed their underground wiring long time ago.

Unfortunately, the NPF maintains their E-11 sector like an incompetent and corrupt government department and not like an efficient private sector housing society like Bahria Town or a departmental housing authority, DHS, etc.

Nobody has ever taken the trouble to improve the maintenance of civic facilities despite the payment of monthly charges being paid by the residents. There has never been a managing director of the NPF because this job is considered only as a launch pad for another better posting by the senior police officers.

The interior minister should improve this neglected housing society and post a managing director who can turn around its pathetic state. If that is not possible, the maintenance of the sector may be handed over to the CDA.
