TIMERGARA: Scores of girl students and their parents on Tuesday held a demonstration in front of Timergara Press Club and demanded of the government to upgrade their primary school at Kas Lajbok area.
They also chanted slogans for establishment of a middle school in their area.
Speaking on the occasion, village council nazim Hamidur Rehman and naib nazim Khan Badshah said that hundreds of girl students in the area wanted to get secondary and higher education.
They said that the nearest middle school for girls was seven kilometres away from Kas Lajbok village and it was difficult for the local girls to go there daily.
They said that majority of the girl students gave up education after passing the 5th grade examination.
They demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to upgrade the government girls’ primary school Kas Ghawargay to high level so that the local girls could get education at their door step.
RAID ON FILLING STATIONS: Additional assistant commissioner, Adenzai, Aleem Khan Umarzai on Tuesday registered cases against the owners of 10 filling stations for allegedly giving less fuel to the customers. Officials of local police and Dir Levies accompanied him during the raids.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party spokesman Zahid Khan said that the previous government had allocated Rs6.5 billion for provision of Sui gas to different parts of Lower Dir.
Addressing a public meeting at Nasafa Talash after inaugurating gas supply to the area, he said that the present government had failed on all fronts. The gathering was also addressed by Lower Dir ANP leaders Ayub Khan and Ghulam Rashid.
He said that Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq and PTI leader Jehangir Tareen recently addressed big party rallies in Dir, but none of them announced development projects for the area.
