LAHORE: Temperatures further went up on Sunday as the heat wave persists over the plains of the country.

Larkana recorded the highest maximum temperature in the country. That was 48 degrees C. The maximum temperature in Rahim Yar Khan, Sibbi, Mohenjodaro and Sukkur was 47 degrees C. It was the highest ever in Sukkur in the month of April. It’s previous highest was 46.5 degrees C recorded on April 25, 2000.

It was 46 degrees C in Noorpurthal, Bahawalpur, Khanpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jaccobabad, Dadu, Padidan, Sakrund, D G Khan and Bahawalnagar and 45 in Multan.

Lahore’s maximum temperature rose from Saturday’s 41 degrees C to 43 degrees C, making it the hottest day of the season so far.

The Met department forecast further rise in the temperatures in the plains of the country in the next two days. It expected mainly hot and dry weather in most parts of the country, while very hot weather in Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Hyderabad, Naseerabad, Makran, Sibbi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, D.G Khan and D.I Khan divisions in the next 24 hours (Monday).
