NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 29: A group of people took out a procession here on Tuesday to protest against the police for not arresting two accused who had criminally assaulted a girl.

The protesters, including relatives of the girl, raised slogans against DPO Gul Mohammad Shar and the ASI in charge of investigation, Tharushah.

They said 15-year-old “B” resident of the Nawazio Bhan village, was going to her relatives’ house when two men, Afzal Bhan and Asghar, took her to a deserted place and assaulted her.

They said influential people of the village intervened and told the girl not to report to the police as they would decide the matter. However, they added, the matter was not resolved and they went to the police station to lodge an FIR against the accused but the SHO refused to register the case.

The protesters said they sent an application to the district and sessions judge of Naushahro Feroze and on his orders the Tharushah police registered an FIR on July 13.

They said the police arrested one of the accused, Afzal, but released him later.

RALLY: A large number of people, led by Ali Khan Bhutto, staged a rally against the Zarai Taraqiati Bank, Naushahro Feroze branch, here on Tuesday.

Mr Bhutto complained that he had no agricultural land but the bank officers had prepared a fake pass book in his name and sanctioned a loan of Rs230,000.
