The family of slain qawwal Amjad Sabri is trying to leave the country due to reservations over security.
Azmat Sabri, Amjad's brother, while speaking to Dawn.com, confirmed that the family is "trying to leave Pakistan."
"We feel we are being watched," he said, explaining why his family is relocating. He clarified that the family has received no threats to their life.
"We are trying to settle in London, we have a brother there," he said, adding that the family "would be ready to leave tomorrow if we got the visas."
Speaking to ARY News earlier, Azmat had said: "We feel unsafe here now, even though we have lived here all our lives and love Liaquatabad."
Celebrated qawwal Amjad Sabri, 40, and an associate were travelling in a car in Liaquatabad 10 area, when unidentified gunmen fired at their vehicle, critically injuring him on June 23 last year. The two were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital immediately, where Sabri succumbed to his injuries.
Qari Saifullah Mehsud, spokesperson for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan Hakimullah Mehsud group, had accepted responsibility for the attack.

A very unfortunate situation in which one is compelled to leave one's country for whatever reason, especially security.
It is even more unfortunate that some from amongst our so-called high-ups should be painting a very rosy picture of Pakistan as a peaceful country where all is perfectly well. Such exponents of a peaceful Pakistan are those who either live in ivory towers or are provided brigades of security personnel with residences in highly fortified areas.
Our leaders need to wake up from their slumber and ponder over what can be done to salvage the situation.
Our leaders' own survival is tied to the survival of the country and its people. The sooner they realise this and take corrective steps the better.
Time and tide wait for none.

This is really really sad and sorry that such a celebrated family have to leave country of their birth and become refugees again. What are the authorities doing to protect and make them feel safe. I guess they are busy guarding no good famous people.

An important member of family got killed,leaves a massive impact on family naturally, brother of Amjad Family lives in London, he has an opportunity to sponsor his family members to move abroad, and have a peaceful secured life.Hence they got the opportunity and it's their right & choice to live wherever they prefer.But question remains everyone has no close relatives in UK or USA, and hundreds of killings took place yearly in metropolitan Karachi, the administration failed so far failed to bring affordable peace, it is for Karachiiites to stand up and protest for their right to live, nobody will help you ,you have to do it yourselves,in an educated decent lawful manner.

If general Zia would not have played in the hands of selfish America in mid 80's ( Afgan war ) today Pakistan would have been a different story ( one of the top wealthiest nation in Asia )
