Selena Gomez makes donation to find cure for lupus

Doing her part for the cause, Selena Gomez made a donation to the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine for research into lupus.

Kick-starting the project which will be known as the Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research, singer admitted that she was ‘optimistic’ and ‘proud’ to be supporting the work of the institution.

In a statement, she said: “I continue to be optimistic about the progress being made in lupus research and am proud to support the promising work at Keck School of Medicine. I am hopeful for the millions of us around the world that may benefit from this.”

Selena’s donation will initially fund a pilot treatment programme focused on treating the complications of the condition, spearheaded by professor of physiology and biophysics Dr Janos Peti-Peterdi.

Paris Jackson says she was dad Michael’s ‘princess’

The 18-year-old aspiring actress and only daughter of late singer Michael Jackson discussed her sheltered childhood and recent step into the spotlight in the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

“Growing up, I was treated as the favourite because I was the only girl. I was the princess; I was perfect in my dad’s eyes,” she said.

Jackson, who was 11 years old when Michael died in 2009, grew up hidden from the public eye on her dad’s Neverland Ranch. She admitted she was ‘shocked’ when she was introduced to the ‘cruel’ realities of the world.

“The first 12 years of my life I was homeschooled,” the star shared. “Which means that the only interactions I’d ever had were with family members or other adults.”

Jackson landed a contract with IMG Models this month, and made her acting debut on last week’s episode of the Fox series Star.
