KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has directed the federal government, Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Federal Investigation Agency and others to file their replies on a petition seeking action against people involved in the release of over Rs46 million by the PIDC to a fake account with the alleged connivance of senior KMC officials.

The petition was filed by Lal Bux, who impleaded the federal industries secretary, chief executive officer of the PIDC, KMC administrator, FIA, former KMC Saddar Town director Ashfaq Ansari, ex-CEO of the PIDC Gul Mohammad Rind, PIDC GM (admin) Ashfaq Ahmed and GM for finance Zahid Mughal as respondents.

The petitioner submitted that the PIDC had in 2012 approached the KMC to get proper lease documents of three plots the PIDC had purchased through auction in 1955 from the KMC.

He said ex-director Ashfaq Ansari arranged a fake demand note of Rs46,717,348 for the three plots in Bath Island and it was later handed over to the deputy GM, Deedar Kalhoro.
