Stealing sand

Published March 23, 2017

I WAS out for a stroll along Clifton beach when I noticed that the sand along the beach is being stolen just behind an eatery called Corniche 2 on Seaview Road.

The plunderers are stacking the sand and shifting it at night. This has made this part of the beach look ugly. This is a criminal act to denude Clifton beach of its natural gift, sand. The digging is so conspicuous that no one can avoid noticing it.

Why is this activity not being stopped by the DHA and CBC authorities. Every morning I see the DHA vigilance department vehicle patrolling the area. I wonder whether the field inspector is reporting the theft to his superiors.

In the eighties the waves of the Arabian Sea would smash against the parapet wall of Seaview road. This is no longer true.
