PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra reached Afghanistan’s Balkh province on Monday to attend the Nauroz festival on an invitation of the Afghan government.

Mr Jhagra called on Balkh Governor Ustad Atta Mohammad Noor and discussed with him matters between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He also attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by Mr Noor, according to an official statement issued here.

The Balkh governor thanked Mr Jhagra for visiting Afghanistan. He appreciated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision about reopening of Pakistan’s borders with Afghanistan, saying that the decision would strengthen relations between the two countries.

Mr Jhagra said that he was visiting Afghanistan to strengthen relations between the two countries.

MNA from Khyber Agency Shah Jee Gul Afridi and other officials accompanied the KP governor.

Mr Jhagra and members of his delegation would take part in Nauroz festivities.

The delegation was scheduled to return home on Wednesday.
