RAWALPINDI: Three people were killed and two injured in separate rail and road accidents in the city on Monday, police said.

In the first accident, a motorcyclist hit another one’s motorcycle, on which two brothers Khalil Ahmed and Aqueel Ahmed, were riding from the rear and sped off.

The accident occurred on the Mall in front of the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).

Police said Khalil Ahmed with his younger brother Aqeel Ahmed sitting on the pillion was going home on Sunday night when the accident took place.

Both the brothers fell from the motorcycle and received multiple injuries. Aqueel Ahmed, who was a salesman at a crockery shop, sustained critical injuries and was shifted to the Military Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.

Later, his body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. The other injured was stated to be in a stable condition.

In another road accident, a motorcycle rider was killed and his brother was injured after their vehicle was hit by a jeep in the Civil Lines Police area. The injured was shifted to the DHQ hospital where he was stated to be in a stable condition.

Separately, a man was run over by a passenger train in Dhoke Charaghdeen.

Mohammad Sajid from Azad Kashmir was working at a hotel as a dish washer. He was crossing the railway track when the accident occurred.
