QUETTA: Iranian border security force reportedly fired rocket and mortar shells into the Kachao area of Saindak near the border on Saturday.

Official sources said that the rockets and mortar shells fired at brief intervals landed and exploded in the plain and hilly areas of Kachao, causing panic among people in nearby villages.

“At least nine rockets and mortar shells were fired from across the border,” said a senior official of the local administration.

No loss was reported.

The shelling stopped when Pakistani security forces rushed to the site.

Local authorities informed the officials in Quetta and Islamabad about the incident with a request to take up the issue with Iranian authorities.
