SUKKUR, July 25: Hundreds of people staged a demonstration here the other day against the illegal construction of a private computer institute on the premises of Mir Masoom Shah library.

The student forum of the library protested outside the Sukkur Press Club and the office of Taluka Nazim. They demanded that the higher authorities should take notice of the project to save the library from the clutches of an influential man.

The owner of the SISTECH is brother of A.R. Malik, the vice- chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.

The protesters said half of the land of the library had already been sold to the PAF while the remaining half is being given to a private institute.

The Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Sukkur district has also condemned allotment of the precious plot of the library to a private computer institute.

In a press statement on Thursday district president Aamir Mughal said the district and taluka councils should not allow the establishment of a private sector institute on the premises public sector library.

He termed the allotment a conspiracy against the people of Sukkur.

He said the owner of the private institute wanted to get this precious plot in the name of university.

cases: The chairman of All Pakistan Organization of Small Traders and Cottage Industries, Haji Mohammad Haroon Memon, has condemned the registration of cases against traders who had demanded cleanliness of their city.

He demanded the president, the prime minister and the provincial minister for local bodies Sindh to withdraw cases registered against traders and direct the Taluka Nazim to clean Mirpurkhas city.

He also criticized the levying of tax on fruit and vegetable vendors of Rohri by the Taluka Council.
