KARACHI: Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani on Tuesday expressed his desire to learn from Pakistan Army’s experience in security domain.

During a meeting with Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is on a visit to the Gulf emirate, the premier also sought Pakistan Army’s assistance for the forthcoming football World Cup to be held in Qatar, including provision of manpower.

COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa also met Commander of Qatar Emiri Land Forces Maj Gen Muhammed Ali Ghanim Al Ghanim and Commander of Qatar Emiri Guard Maj Gen Hazza Bin Khalil Al Shahwani.

The Qatari prime minister acknowledged Pakis–tan’s contribution to development and growth of the emirate.

He praised Pakistan Army’s contribution to regional peace and said that people of Qatar greatly valued people of Pakistan and trusted their commitment for working in Qatar.

Sheikh Thani expressed his desire to move forward with Pakistan on multiple fronts, including cyber security, defence production and travel facilities.

The army chief thanked the prime minister for his views and assured him all cooperation in the desired fields.

During his meeting with Maj Gen Ghanim, the latter appreciated Pakistan Army’s professionalism and performance in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

He showed interest for joint training and field exercises.

The COAS assured Gen Ghanim of undertaking training cooperation.

Gen Bajwa also visited the Qatar Emiri Guard Headquarters and met Maj Gen Hazza Bin Khalid Al Shahwani.

He also visited Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College where Pakistani tri-services contingent of 166 members is imparting training.
