KHAIRPUR, July 24: A large number of villagers of Bozdar Wada held a protest demonstration for the second consecutive day on Wednesday against the police for not controlling lawlessness in the area.

On Tuesday, complete strike was observed on the call of the Dukandar Association and Shehri Ittehad Tanzeem. The villagers also held a protest demonstration.

Talking to newsmen, the villagers complained that the police was not dealing seriously with theft cases.

They demanded an immediate inquiry against the police.

STRAY DOG VICTIM: A girl, Sasai, 8, daughter of Waras Dino Lodhro, died after being bitten by a stray dog in the Lodhro village, near Pir-jo-Goth, on Tuesday.

She was taken to a hospital but due to no anti-rabies vaccine being available she died.

ACCIDENT: A worker, Hanif Kanhar, was crushed to death when a tractor overturned on him on the Faiz Mohammad link road, near Kot Mir Mohammad, Kingri Taluka, late Tuesday night.

MAN KILLED: Two unknown men shot dead a man, Ghulam Bani Arejo, 35, in the Arejo village within the jurisdiction of the Pir-jo-Goth police station, Kingri Taluka, on Wednesday.

SUICIDE: A youth, Ibrahim Khuhro, committed suicide by taking poison in the Bandi Motaya village, near Sobhodero town, late Tuesday night.

girl dies: Gastroenteritis has spread in several villages of Kot Diji, Gambat, Khairpur and Pir-jo-Goth talukas after recent rains.

A girl, Fehmida, 12, daughter of Ghulam Rasool Jagirani, died of gastroenteritis on Wednesday night in Pir-Jo-Goth while over 50 children, including Abdullah, 3, Qadeer, 3, Shazia, 3, Sumera, 4, Sikandar, 3, Sasuai, 5, Hameedullah, 3, Samina, 6, Nafisa, 2, Safia, 1, and others had been affected by the disease.

Gastro cases are also reported in 20 villages of Kot Diji taluka, including Soomar Mallah, Ahmedi Khan, Bago Daro, Zawarabad, Noor Bozdar, Ratal Shaheed, and Ghulam Mohammad Burdi.

Villagers told newsmen on Thursday that about 20 patients were visiting private hospitals daily due to non-availability of at the government hospitals.

About 49 cases of gastro had been reported in Khairpur and Gambat.
