Leave of Bajaur Scouts cancelled

Published January 3, 2002

BAJAUR, Jan 2: Hundreds of personnel of the Bajaur Scouts have left for the Frontier Constabulary Headquarters at the Bala Hisar Fort in Peshawar in the wake of the mounting tension between Pakistan and India.

The authorities have cancelled the leave and leave prior to retirement (LPR) of the scouts and directed them to report on duty in three days.

As the tension between the two countries has escalated in the recent days, the authorities have concentrated the scouts belonging to different wings at the Bajaur Agency Headquarters, Khar, to meet any eventuality or misadventure by India.

A spokesman for the Bajaur Scouts told Dawn that the authorities had also directed those scouts who had been superannuated only recently to report on duty immediately.

He said the scouts had a very good experience of artillery and infantry fighting on the frontlines, adding that they would take part in war if India tried to commit any misadventure.
