SUKKUR: Three carriages of a Punjab-bound goods train coming from Karachi were derailed at Fauji Colony between the Daharki and Reti railway stations on Monday. Rail traffic at this section remained suspended till late in the evening.

An official of the Railways control room said a team sent to the site of the incident had started its work to put the carriages on track and restore the traffic.

The Shalimar Express going to Punjab from Karachi was halted at the Mirpur Mathelo station and the same service coming back to Karachi was stopped at Rahimyar Khan. The Hazara Express going to Punjab from Karachi was stuck at the Ghotki station and the same service on its return to Karachi was stranded at the Reti station.

The rail traffic could not be restored till late in the evening, three hours after the derailment.
