RAHIM YAR KHAN: Illegally parked tractor-trolleys laden with sugarcane on Shahi Road are disturbing traffic flow on the road that links Rahim Yar Khan with Khanpur, causing inconvenience to motorists and others.
Drivers of public transport vehicles and motorists say that since November 2016 the tractor-trolleys used for supplying sugarcane to Chaudhry Sugar Mills, Kotsamaba, are being parked illegally on the road, rendering it almost impassable for vehicular traffic.
They apprehend that the illegally parked vehicles could cause some major accident, resulting in loss of precious human lives.
They say that despite repeated complaints, the district administration was taking no action against those responsible for the illegality.
One of the affected motorists said the administration was reluctant to act because the sugar mills was owned by the Sharif family heading the ruling PML-N.
A local source said the sugar mills was also duping sugarcane ash along the road, causing environmental pollution in the area.
He said a six-kilometre long link road was being built at a cost of Rs92 million using government funds since October 2016 from Shahi Road to Chak 94-P to benefit the sugar mills.
Traffic DSP Asghar Chaudhry said Shahi Road area did not fall in his jurisdiction and that Kotsamaba police were responsible for checking wrong parking of tractor-trolleys.
