MUZAFFARABAD: Police arrested a man for his alleged involvement in at least nine cases registered with five police stations of the Poonch division since 2010, an official said on Thursday.

Kashif Hanif, 29, whose name appears on the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), was arrested from Datot village on the outskirts of Rawlakot, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch Mir Abid told Dawn.

The Fourth Schedule is a section of the ATA under which someone who is suspected of terrorism is kept under observation. It is mandatory for the fourth schedulers to register their attendance with the local police on a regular basis.

SSP Abid said the suspect was wanted by the five police stations of Bagh, Poonch and Sudhnoti districts for masterminding and executing subversive activities.

The suspected terrorist belonged to the group of Nazirul Islam alias Shamil Khan.
