SUKKUR, Dec 26: The police recovered eight kidnapped children and arrested six kidnappers, including a woman, during a raid on a railway quarter in Rohri on Thursday.

The children had been kidnapped from different parts of the country for being smuggled abroad.

They were identified as Ali Akbar, 13, son of Noor Mohammad Pathan, resident of Mithi; Jan Mohammad, 10, son of Mehrab, Shireen Jinnah Colony, Karachi; Adnan, 13, son of Ramzan Shaikh, Qaiser, 15, son of Altaf Shaikh, 15, both residents of Jhelum; Mohammad Amin, 12, son of Abdul Rahim Barmi, Usman Colony, Karachi; Abdul Ghani, 10, son of Hussain Ahmed, Mohammad Alam, 12, son of Sultan, both residents of Usman Town, Karachi; and Karamullah, 11, son of Abdul Ghani Shaikh, Kandhkot.

Those arrested were Rukhsana, wife of Abdul Karim, Rafiq Ahmed, Shahzad, Ameer Ali Shah, Abdul Karim, and Karamullah.

Shah is a resident of Faizabad, Khairpur, Rafiq of Multan and other accused of other cities.

The police also recovered a TT pistol and one kilogramme of Charas from their possession.

The children told the police that after being kidnapped a week ago, they were kept under tight security and administered sedative injections at night.

They further said that the kidnappers tortured them and gave very little food to them.

Police sources said that the gang used to kidnap children and smuggle them abroad.

However, the accused claimed that they had found the children in different cities and were going to hand them over to their relatives.

Raids were being conducted to arrested remaining members of the gang.

WOMAN KILLED: A woman, Noor Khatoon, was allegedly killed by her neighbour, Bhallo Ogahi, in the jurisdiction of the Buxapur police station the other day.
