CHAKWAL: A woman was killed, allegedly by her brother, in Dhoke Tarair area, in the jurisdiction of the Saddar police station in Talagang, police said on Sunday.

The father of the deceased woman told police that his son woke up in the morning and asked his sister to boil water for him but she refused. He said his son was enraged and shot his sister. He then fled the village.

A police official, however, said the victim married against her family’s will a couple of years ago. “Later, the girl and her family reconciled as she left her husband and started living with her parents and brothers again. He said her brother was still angry with her.

The official said the police are trying to arrest the killer. “Investigation is underway and the actual motive for the murder will be ascertained after the killer’s arrest,” he said.

Separately, the body of a woman was found near Sidhangi village in the Choa Saidan Shah police station area.

The body is yet to be identified. According to a police official, there were no trauma marks on the body. “It seems she was strangled to death,” the official told Dawn.
