ISLAMABAD, Dec 24: POF defeated Police 3-1 in the opening match of the All-Pakistan Chief Minister Gold Cup hockey tournament in Sargodha, says a press release.

Shafiqul Islam put POF in front as soon as play began, a lead neutralised by Ejaz.

However at the stroke of half-time, POF went 2-1 up courtesy of Zubair.

Shafiq then scored his second goal of the match to give POF a well-deserved victory.

Eighteen teams are competing in the tournament.
