At least five persons were killed and six injured in rains-related incidents in Balochistan in the last two days. A large number of mud houses and walls were also damaged during the continuous rainfall in various parts of the province.

A woman and a child were killed when the roof of their house collapsed in Balochistan's remote district of Sherani. The local tribesmen retrieved the dead bodies on their own.

Muhammad Aslam Tareen, the director general for Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), said all the deputy commissioners were directed to asses the damage and submit a detailed report at their earliest.

Tareen further confirmed that one person was killed in Kalat, one in Killa Abdullah and one woman in Pashtoon Bagh area of Quetta in rains-related incidents.

"Continued rains damaged standing crops, orchards and affected livestock in various districts of the province," the PDMA Director General stated.

The injured have been shifted to hospitals for medical treatment.

The Balochistan government has declared emergency in seven districts that are adversely affected by rain. All government officials in general and PDMA staff in particular are on alert, Tareen informed.

The power transmission line running between Mand and Tamp grid stations, which produces 132 kilowatts has also tripped, DawnNews reported.

Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) official says electricity was cut off in areas such as Turbat, Gwadar and Panjgur due to a technical fault and work is underway to restore the power supply.
