KOLKATA, Dec 23: Shahid Afridi desperate to regain Test and One-day places in Pakistan team said on Tuesday that he was prepared to bat at any position and had no keenness to bat only as an opener.

“I am an all-rounder. So it is not that I only want to bat as an opener. I am preparaed to play in any position, be it number six or seven,” Afridi told newsmen in Kolkata, where he is leading Pakistan A team in a tri-nation tournament, and lost to Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

The 23 year old cricketer, who had been axed from national side after Pakistan’s opening round exit from World Cup in South Africa, said that he wanted to get back into national side as soon as possible.

“I want to return to Pakistan side as quickly as possible. Other than my batting, I can contribute with the ball as also in fielding,” he said.—PPI
