LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Friday to have arrested two members of a banned organisation from Gujranwala.

A CTD spokesman said that they received information that two suspected terrorists belonging to Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LJ) were present in a house near Khayali Bypass and planning to attack a sensitive installation in Gujranwala.

A CTD team raided the house and arrested the suspects identified as Aftab Ahmed alias Farooqi and Shoaib alias Shoaib Kashmiri.

He said police also recovered 540 grammes of explosive material, two detonators, and 3.5 feet prima cord from their custody.

He said the Gujranwala CTD police registered a case under terrorism charges against the suspects and shifted them to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
