Singer Salman Ahmed on Wednesday said that the short film made to pay a tribute to singer turned preacher Junaid Jamshed has been blocked on Youtube in several countries.

The former bandmate said that the short film, Khwab, has been blocked over "copyright issues with Universal Media Group India, to which the song Khwab from Junoon's silver anniversary album Door is licensed, and VEVO, the American multinational video hosting service," said Ahmed while speaking to Geo News.

He was quoted as saying that, "The new Junoon silver anniversary album Door (which has both songs, Door and Khwab) are licensed to Universal music. I reported that India, UK and UAE's Youtube blocked the video. They responded by saying that 'If VEVO agrees to upload it, it will take four weeks to upload the video'. That essentially kills the song and video," added Salman while speaking to Geo.

Salman said that he is signed to Universal Media Group globally, but that he reserves the rights to Junoon's content in Pakistan. He added that the album Door was on Vevo, but not Khwab, which led to the song becoming inaccessible in several countries.

Despite the video being blocked on Youtube, the tribute film has gone viral on the internet. Salman added that the video has been watched millions of times despite the blockage.

"#Khwab has touched millions across the planet in less than 3 days of release despite being blocked on youtube," he said in a tweet.

Later, Salman managed to get the short film unblocked in the United States. "Just got US YouTube to unblock Khwab. Where else is it blocked?" he tweeted.
