LAHORE: Journalist, poet and script writer Rukhsana Noor passed away here on Thursday. She was 58.

She had been suffering from cancer for the last several years. She was the first wife of film director Syed Noor. They contracted marriage in 1984 and had three daughters and a son.

Rukhsana wrote film songs and scripts for famous films like Choorian and Majajan, which were directed by Syed Noor. Two collections of her poetry, Ilham and Aa Pyar Dil Mein Jaga (film songs), have been published. She also taught in various universities and had launched a private production house.

Funeral prayers for the deceased will be held on Saturday after arrival of her daughters from the US.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief over the demise of Rukhsana Noor.
