PESHAWAR, Dec 22: Members of the NWFP Assembly on Monday protested over persistent loadshedding of electricity and gas in parts of the province.

Speaker Bakht Jehan Khan assured the members that the high officials of the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines would be summoned to the assembly to explain the reasons for the loadshedding.

The issue was raised by MPA Kashif Azam of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, who said that he had raised the issue of electricity loadshedding in the Kohat Road area but the department concerned was not paying any heed.

He said protests by people of the area had become a routine but no action had been taken in this regard.

He said the MPAs had to face embarrassment as the problems of their areas were not solved.

MPA Mian Nisar said people in the southern districts were protesting against loadshedding.
