HYDERABAD, Dec 22: The Nazim of union council-11, Latifabad, was manhandled by some people here on Monday.

The Nazim was on his way to his office when he was intercepted by some eight youths who exchanged hot words with him and assaulted him. The area people separated them.

The incident followed the death of two-year-old Osama, who had fallen into an open drain on Sunday evening.

The UC Nazim reported the matter to District Naib Nazim Nawab Rashid Ali Khan and Latifabad Taluka Nazim Abdul Jabbar Khan. He also lodged a case with the A-section police.

The district Naib Nazim also talked to District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman by telephone, informing him of the situation.

TALUKA COUNCIL: The City Taluka Council here on Monday demanded that the government should impose a ban on the movement of stray animals in the city as they posed a danger to residents.

Usman Abbasi and Yaqoob Shaikh tabled two identical resolutions, saying the movement of animals was creating problems for passersby.

They said this had also led to insanitary condition in the area.

In another resolution, the taluka council thanked the Sindh government for awarding a permission in respect of establishment of a girls degree college on the old Bakra Mandi plot.

The council also took up a resolution of Abdul Waheed Qureshi Ajmeri regarding the devolution of the Hyderabad Development Authority.
