MUZAFFARGARH: An ‘illegal’ camel fight event was arranged here on Sunday at a Pir Jahanian fair under the alleged patronage of Mumtaz Dasti, brother of independent MNA Jamshed Ahmad Dasti.

The Punjab government had clamped a ban on camel fight some years back.

After receipt of information, police reached the spot and registered a case against fair organiser Mumtaz Dasti. Major contests had taken place when the police raided the event.

DPO Awais Ahmad has suspended Civil lines SHO Mr Rizwan for alleged negligence and formed an inquiry team.

Later, MNA Jamshed Dasti alleged that the administration disrupted the recreational event and he would lodge a protest with the chief minister whenever he would visit the area.

He said camel fight and Kabaddi matches would be held on next two days at any cost.
