LAHORE: The Punjab Information Commission has ordered the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) managing director to appear before it and explain why he had not provided information to a complainant despite earlier instructions.

“Show cause why you have not implemented the order of the commission passed during five hearings. And why the commission should not impose penalties against you for delaying or obstructing access to information,” the commission ordered.

It has also ordered that the official must submit a written explanation along with relevant supporting evidence on or before the next hearing on Jan 10. In case of non-appearance, the commission may pass ex parte orders in this matter.

The orders were passed on a complaint filed by Shoaib Saleeem for being denied information about the appointment of four directors by the PEF.

He had alleged that the information that was provided to him was incomplete and misleading.
