Health unit without staff, medicines

Published December 22, 2003

RAWALPINDI, Dec 21: Residents of Ratta Amaral have expressed concern over the unavailability of staff and medicines in the Municipal Health Unit of their area.

The residents said patients avoid going to the centre for their treatment as they get nothing more than a prescription for drugs.

They said the Municipal Health Unit was founded in 1984 and the people used to get medicines as well as treatment of minor ailments there, but with the passage of time, they were left in a lurch.

They said currently there was no staff, medicine or laboratory facility at the health centre. The patients do their tests from private laboratories.

The residents said there was no LHV (Lady Health Visitor) to treat the women of the area.

They regretted there was no medicine or instrument like oxygen cylinder and other live saving equipments in case if somebody was in a critical condition.—PPI
