GWADAR: A man was killed and two others were injured in a rocket attack by Iranian forces in the Prom border area of Panjgur district on Sunday.
According official sources, Iranian border security forces fired at least nine rockets that exploded in the Prom area. One of the rockets hit a pick-up truck.
“The vehicle was destroyed,” an official of the local administration said.
“A Pakistani national was killed and two others were severely injured,” a security official posted in the area told Dawn. Frontier Corps personnel arrived at the site after the incident, but did not retaliate.
The Iranian forces also stopped firing rockets after FC troops arrived in the border area.
The man killed in the attack was identified as Abdul Khaliq of the Prom area, while Muhammad Naveed and Muhammad Nawaz of the Tasp area were injured.
The sources said the administration had informed the authorities concerned in Islamabad about the incident and they would lodge a protest with the Iranian government about the border violation.
