Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday announced his decision to attend the session of parliament on Wednesday, ending his boycott of attending parliament sessions.
The PTI chairman, while talking to media persons in the federal capital, alleged that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has lied to the parliament and the people in the wake of Panama Papers leaks.
He also said the purpose of ending the boycott is to table two motions in the parliament against the parliament.
Referring to the premier, he said Nawaz has made different statements in the Supreme Court and the Parliament.
Imran was flanked by PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
"I ask PML-N leaders, will they take a stand tomorrow alongside the opposition as the prime minister has lied in front of them?"
Imran said Wednesday's session of parliament will be a test for everyone, including those in the incumbent government and the opposition.
"The Supreme Court has said the institutions of the country have failed. It is a test of the parliament too, which has failed till now," said the PTI chief.
Imran Khan also alleged that certain institutions, such as NAB and the FIA, have been tampered with and are no longer capable of holding the premier accountable.
Referring to the end of his parliament boycott, he said the opposition is responsible for asking questions and raising issues against the incumbents for the betterment of the people.
"If we can not perform our role and responsibilities, what use was there for us to attend sessions in the parliament."
"The prime minister is answerable to the opposition, if he does not provide us with answers, do we go just for marking our attendance?"
Qureshi said that the time has come to see if it is a democratic Parliament or a majlis-i-shura.
Earlier in October, PTI chairman Imran Khan announced his party’s intention to boycott sessions of the parliament.
He had said that his party members would not attend any sessions of parliament until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigned or presented himself for accountability as per the opposition’s proposed terms of reference (ToR) for investigation into the Panamagate scandal.
As part of the boycott, PTI had also boycotted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address to the joint session of parliament.

@A. A. It is called 'standing on principles', Those who take no stand on anything, will fall for everything. IK boycotted Erdogan address to Pakistani NA, because it was seen as an endorsement of corrupt NS regime.
Mr. Erdogan is becoming a dictator by the day, ala Mr. Putin. Don't tell me you like Putin, like Trump does? Look at what Putin is doing in Crimea and Syria. Same as what Mr. Erdogan is doing to the Kurds in Turkey, Syria and Iraq.

I am surprised to see Pakistanis calling a good and compromising move a U turn. What would they rather prefer some one who lies and also involved in corruptions. Where is the PMLN load shedding promise? Stop behaving like ostrich and allow a leader to be dynamic and adjust to the situation's. Even if it is U turn, it does not cost the country a dime.

I see some people still can't understand why he had boycott and why is he returning, it's like like they are still attending the primary schools.
It was a move to show the stress to the nation and institutions that how critical this issue is. Since FIA, NAB not seems to favour Justice now he has returned to use parliament once again to raise his voice against corruption as he already been doing.
Ones who get benefit from corruption are the ones who are opposing him.

Boycott was till Nawaz Sharif presented himself to answer the questions regarding the Panama Papers. Now he has done that ( or in process of) in Supreme court. So IK has decided to attend the Parliament. Also making a U turn is not a sin if it is for the betterment of the Nation. It requires some guts to make a U turn.
But the most worrying thing to see in the comments here, is that people are willing to criticize the person who is trying to do something about this epic corruption by the head of state, instead of questioning the main culprit in this saga.

Imran should go into reflection mode, think through his decision making process, take a good look at his advisors, review all of decisions since the election to figure out what is wrong with him. I am not a fan of the Shariff's but Imran khan is not a reliable leader. His is not corrupt but he definitely comes across a highly incompetent and relies too much on his past World Cup victory strategy for all situations.

Whilst it is the right step, it is a shame Imran still believes in a politics of provocation. He is wrong is saying the government is answerable to opposition. They are answerable to the people. If he believes that the institutions are not working then you fix them through parliament. Instead of saying Nawaz Shariff lied in the parliament, you go and introduce a bill to amend the appointment of NAB chairman. Both Imran and Bilawal should learn you just cant use street power to change anything. It is very dangerous tool. Because if they succeed then every opposition would use the same tool when they are in power. And that is how are country has suffered for so long. Lets, fight, yell, abuse, accuse in parliament only.

IK would never have won the Cricket World Cup if he had played outside the play ground. Similarly, people want their representatives to represent them in parliament. By sitting outside they do not represent them. Opposition should register its position by voting against a bill or resolution. Of course, majority will prevail. That is democracy. By boycotting, their dissenting vote is not registered. It also implies disrepect for the majority. Just because opposition does not have the votes to defeat a government move, it does not mean they should boycott. I have never heard of opposition boycotting parliament in a Western democracy. Compared to PTI, PPP's record in the parliament has been positive.
