KARACHI: An antiterrorism court asked police on Friday to initiate proceedings to proclaim and attachment of property against absconders in a case related to alleged distribution of CDs of anti-state speeches.

MQM MPA Shiraz Waheed was arrested for allegedly distributing CDs, which contained speeches and statements to wage war or attempt or abet to wage war against the country, among the people in an Ahsanabad locality in August. Later, he was released on bail. The court asked the investigating officer to initiate proceedings against the five absconding accused under Sections 87 (proclamation for persons absconding) and 88 (attachment of property of person absconding) of the criminal procedure code after the police informed it that they were unable to execute the warrants. The case was registered under Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging of war against Pakistan), 123-A (condemnation of the creation of the state and advocacy of abolition of its sovereignty), 124-A (sedition) and 109 (abetment) of the PPC read with Section 7 of ATC at the Site Superhighway Industrial Area police station.
