A Rangers official sustained minor injuries when an Improvised explosive device (IED) went off near a vehicle of the paramilitary force outside the Sindh Agriculture University in Hyderabad district's Tando Jam on Friday.

The IED was fitted into a bicycle that was parked next to the Rangers' vehicle on main Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road.

The official, Nasir, was taken to Combined Military Hospital in Hyderabad while a suspect has been taken into custody by law enforcement officials.

Officials of the force have been deployed at the university on a routine basis for security purposes.

Rangers personnel have been targeted in other parts of Sindh as well in the past.
