PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday arrested the agency surgeon and an accountant of health department, Mohmand tribal region, in a funds embezzlement case.

According to a statement, the accused persons, Dawood Khan, agency surgeon, and Nisar Khan, accountant health department, Mohmand region, embezzled funds meant for paying rent of the community health centres, costs of medicines and utility bills, thus causing millions of rupees loss to the exchequer.

It was stated that Dawood Khan, who was the drawing and disbursing officer, in connivance with his accountant, Nisar Khan, withdrew funds allocated for paying rent of the community health centres, their electricity bills and medicines, and pocketed millions of rupees illegally.
