UNIVERSITY Road is a vital line of communication connecting citizens of Karachi to the two major universities of the city, i.e. NED University and Karachi University. Big potholes are found from NIPA to Safoora Goth.

Commuters and passengers who travel on this road face enormous hardships, causing road accidents periodically and damaging vehicles. Because of rocks and mud littered all along the road, severe environmental pollution is causing health hazards to people living along this road.

The Sindh chief minister and the minister for local bodies have repeatedly given assurance that the University Road will be renovated soon but all such promises have proved to be unfulfilled. Thousands of students and others who travel daily on University Road must be saved from torture and suffering by those who are responsible for the maintenance of city roads.

The Karachi mayor who is heading the city government is almost helpless because of the acute shortage of funds. Keeping in view the need to save the users of University Road from further hardship, it is hoped that its immediate renovation is done before the road is rendered unusable.

Furthermore, the renovation of road must follow international standards so that its durability is ensured and taxpayers’ money is not wasted.
