SWABI, Dec 17: A test for the appointment of Arabic and theology teachers was postponed when the candidates of madaris protested against the refusal of the education department staff to award marks for the madressah certificates and degrees.

The candidates said the staff had refused to award marks for Sanad Aamma, equivalent to matriculation; Sanad Khassa, equivalent to intermediate; Sanad Alia, equivalent to graduation; Shahdatul Alam, equivalent to masters, and the recognized Faragah certificate in the test to the candidates seeking appointment or promotion.

The protesters gathered at the Swabi Adda mosque where Tanzeemul Ulema Asatiza President Mohammad Shafi spoke to them.
