Sindh PPP

Published December 4, 2016

FOR over eight years, the PPP led by Asif Zardari had appointed an octogenarian, Qaim Ali Shah, as chief minister.

Now the PML-N has gifted this province another aged former chief justice as governor. The irony is that this province once proud to have sons — like Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah — is today being led by men who consider allegations of crime, corruption and kickbacks a merit.

In politics, perception is as powerful as truth and a large majority perceives Dr Asim Hussain and other Zardari cronies as tainted, and lacking credibility and integrity.

Just review the calibre of ZAB’s cabinet members or his choice of men to head PIA, State Bank, etc., and those appointed by PPP when it held power from 2008 onwards. Compare integrity, character and credibility of ZAB-appointed Air Marshal Nur Khan as PIA chief to the controversial personalities appointed by the PPP co-chairman.

Larkana, the constituency of ZAB and his daughter, now has an infrastructure that has collapsed and today has the highest HIV reported cases with crime at its peak in both rural and urban centres of this province.
