A medical examination of Larkana cadet college student Muhammad Ahmed Hussain who was paralysed after an alleged beating revealed the teenager was tortured, sources said.

A 10-member medical board formed by the Sindh Health Department to assess Hussain's condition conducted a thorough checkup of the paralysed teen who was admitted to a hospital in Karachi on Friday.

Sources within the medical board said that 'conclusive evidence of torture' was found during the hour-long examination.

During the examination, it was found that the boy was able to write down his own name and the name of the person who allegedly tortured him.

The board concluded that the case can not be treated in Pakistan and forwarded the suggestion that the patient be sent to America, the source said.

The findings of a the board were discussed in a meeting after the examination and a detailed medical report has been compiled and sent to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who had earlier taken notice of the incident and ordered the formation of an investigative committee and medical board to probe the matter.

The CM Sindh had said that the provincial Government would bear all costs of the boy's treatment.

The National Assembly in 2013 had unanimously adopted a bill providing up to one-year imprisonment and up to Rs50,000 penalty for the person found guilty of inflicting corporal punishment on children.

The bill was aimed at protecting dignity of the children as human rights.
