Pakistan agrees to provide 52 Super Mushshak trainers to Turkey

Pakistan on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Turkey for the provision of 52 Super Mushshak training aircrafts.

Defence Production Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain confirmed the deal at the 9th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar in Karachi, adding that all MoUs being signed with states contain a clause that guarantees a transfer of technology will be a part of the deal.

The Super Mushshak is an advanced variant of the Mushshak basic trainer, and is produced at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.

The aircraft has a service ceiling of 22,000 feet, and a maximum speed of 268km/h. Range of the aircraft is reported at 814 kilometres.

The aircraft is already in service with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and South Africa. Nigeria bought the aircraft in early 2016 and Qatar bought the trainers in June this year.

Basic flight training is provided on the aircraft for aspiring pilots.

Pakistan, Ukraine agree to upgrade Al-Khalid battle tanks

Pakistan and Ukraine on Wednesday signed an MoU to upgrade Al-Khalid battle tanks being built in Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported.

Under the agreement, Ukraine will provide technical support and engines for 200 Al-Khalid tanks.

President Mamnoon Hussain during a meeting with Ukraine Defence Minister General Stephan Poltorak in Karachi said that maintaining strong ties with Ukraine is of immense importance for Pakistan.

The president added that Pakistan wants to boost its bilateral relations with Ukraine.

Why is it being sold with "Transfer of Technology". It is like selling your shop to the customer. No one does it. Look at the Japanese they are still selling us 30 year old obsolete technology for Suzuki car and still they have not transferred any technology for even the obsolete carburetor engines which no one uses. Stop this non sense of Transfer of Technology. They will build these aircraft and sell them at greater rate to all the Middle Eastern and African countries with much better efficiency and take away any market for Pakistan. Please think again and remove that dangerous clause of transfer of technology.

I'm waiting for the day when PIA engineering will be revived, and Pakistan could set up its own Airliner and Fighter Jet manufacturing facilities, with indigenous designs and technologies. Thus getting rid of dependency on the US... Yes, it could happen, perhaps not in my lifetime. But only if the right people are empowered to innovate, excel and introduce best practices while utilizing very talented technical pool sitting in North America to invest their know-how, savings and skills to build Pakistan. So far, none of the governments have had the vision, much less the zeal to accomplish something on this scale.

Turkey buying 52 Super Mashaak aircraft is great news as this is an excellent trainer, used by the PAF and several other air forces. Pakistan's JF-17 Thunder has also proven to be the best multi-role fighter jet at a fraction of the cost, compared to US and European manufacturers. Several Middle-East and African countries have great interest in the JF-17, but face political pressure from India not to buy it? Sri Lanka deal fell through as it came under extreme threat from India? Why is PM Modi doing this? This is malicious and mean and not worthy of a great country like India?

@Honest Opinion Engine is the most complex part of a system, and it is extremely hard to master. It needs extremely experienced engineers in case of technology transfer. Even China got technology from Russia about a few engines and is still struggling with it.
