RAWALPINDI, Dec 15: The PML-Q vice-president, Kabir Ali Wasti, has welcomed the speech of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, which she has delivered at a Delhi moot.

“Ms Benazir has endorsed what President Musharraf has been saying for the return of peace in the region,” Mr Wasti said in a statement on Monday.

He said India should have withdrawn its troops from occupied Kashmir before raising the barbed wire fence along the Line of Control (LoC).

He said it was too early to talk of a common currency and rejected Indian accusation of infiltration against Pakistan.

Referring to escape of the President Musharraf’s motorcade in bomb blast, he said India must realize that President Musharraf had put his own life at stake to fight the war against terrorism.

The PML-Q leader said Indian prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee seemed too optimistic by advancing proposals of common currency and opening of borders between India and Pakistan.
