RAWALPINDI, Dec 15: The anti-terrorism court no 1, on Monday ordered provision of A-class to the chief of the banned Islami Tehrik Pakistan (ITP), Allama Sajid Naqvi.

The judge, Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, also sought permission from the Punjab home department to hold the Allama’s trial in jail due to security reasons, and asked it to submit its reply by January 2.

Allama Sajid Naqvi’s counsel, Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, Sardar Ishaq Khan, Sanaullah Tirmizi and Wazarat Naqvi, had moved a plea praying A-class for the arrested leader by contending that Sajid Naqvi was the vice-president of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), a masters degree holder and religious scholar.
