KARACHI, Dec 14: The Defence Housing Authority is planning to establish a fire station and a trauma centre, and to install modern traffic signals in the area.

This was stated by DHA administrator Brig Maqsood Hussain while talking to a delegation of the Defence Association Coordination Committee (DACC).

The DACC members called on the DHA chief to discuss matters regarding safety measures and their strict implementation following the recent explosion at the Khayaban-i-Baharia CNG filling station that left two people dead and many other injured, some of them seriously.

The DHA chief informed the delegation that the DHA had already written to the companies concerned on the issue. He said the DHA on its part was also establishing a fire station, and a trauma centre where two ambulances would be available round the clock.

The DHA has also agreed to form a committee comprising DACC members and DHA officials to look into building violation disputes in the area, particularly the Seaview Apartments. The DHA also agreed to consider the proposal to set up community centres in the area. The DHA team will consist of Col Athar, Col Ahmad Saeed, Col Maqbool, Mr Owais, Cdr Baig, Maj Munawar and others and the DACC team of Habibur Rehman, Aziz Suharwardy, Atiq Khan, M. Iqbal, Shahrukh Butt, S. D. Mahmud and others.
