KARACHI: Police on Friday registered a case against the owner of a factory where three workers died in a boiler explosion inside the industrial unit late on Thursday night, officials said.

Gabol Town SHO Wasim Ahmed told Dawn that the boiler explosion occurred in Ciaton Engineering Company in New Karachi on Thursday night, causing critical injuries to four workers.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced Rafiq and Salman dead on arrival.

The officer added that third injured worker Mansoor died during treatment on Thursday while Rasheed was admitted for treatment. The SHO said that the police had registered an FIR against Ghulam Mohiuddin, owner of the factory, on behalf of the state through the police under Section 322 (punishment for qatl-bis-sabab) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
