HYDERABAD, Dec 11: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has directed the officers of communication and works department not to compromise on the quality of work in the on-going development schemes.

He was presiding over a meeting of officials of the department here on Tuesday.

He observed that the quality of work was suffering due to the negligence of some engineers and warned that any official found guilty of dereliction of duty would not be spared.

He said contractors who were not carrying out work according to specifications would also be dealt with in accordance with law and they would have to reconstruct the development scheme in which substandard material is used.

He said he himself would pay surprise visits to the under construction development schemes. He urged the engineers not to give any concessions to contractors.
